Unlike telecare devices, which are often perceived as medical devices synonymous with dependence, Navigil smartwatches offer a different vision: that of discreet, elegant, and connected remote assistance. Designed in Finland, they aim to support the aging process without ever stigmatizing it.

- Navigil is reinventing remote care with smartwatches featuring a modern design, crafted to be worn comfortably and without stigmatizing older adults.
- The watches combine safety and prevention features, including an SOS call, geolocation, health monitoring, and—depending on the model—automatic fall detection.
- Requiring no smartphone and offering up to two weeks of battery life, they use built-in 4G/LTE-M connectivity to ensure round-the-clock assistance.
- The Navigil Service platform centralizes wellness data to help professionals anticipate situations of vulnerability and improve the monitoring of those under their care.
- Operating in 14 countries after more than 15 years of innovation, Navigil embodies a new generation of telecare—one that is more discreet, more inclusive, and focused on maintaining independence.
Moving Beyond Devices That Stigmatize Older Adults
One of the main barriers to monitoring and assistance solutions remains their image. Emergency pendants, medical bracelets, and bulky devices often serve as reminders of loss of independence and are sometimes abandoned by users. Yet a device can only be effective if it is worn every day.
For more than fifteen years, Finnish company Nav Com Oy, based in Espoo, has been developing a different approach through Navigil: designing connected well-being monitoring watches that look, above all, like… real watches. Already available in 14 countries, these devices enable older adults to continue living safely at home while providing professionals with continuous insight into their health status — without making technology feel like a symbol of vulnerability or dependence.
A Smartwatch Designed for Well-Being Monitoring and Prevention
Navigil watches include an emergency call function activated with a simple button press, geolocation with safety zones, and, depending on the model, automatic fall detection. Operating through 4G/LTE-M connectivity without the need for a smartphone, they provide up to two weeks of battery life and are available in both analog and digital versions to suit users’ preferences.
They provide continuous monitoring of:
- Heart rate
- Physical activity
- Heart rate variability (HRV)
- Night-time breathing patterns
The collected data is then centralized through the Navigil Service cloud platform, allowing home care providers, healthcare facilities, local authorities, and assisted living operators to monitor changes in well-being indicators between visits. By moving from a reactive alert-based approach toward a more preventive model, the solution helps care teams identify early signs of vulnerability while supporting older adults in maintaining their independence.
